NodeJS 26 delivers exceptional runtime performance and modernizes the JavaScript ecosystem with several powerful language standards. In this release, the modern and immutable Temporal API is enabled by default, solving legacy Date object mutability and timezone issues. It incorporates the V8 14.6 engine, introducing Map Upsert methods such as getOrInsert and lazy Iterator sequencing via Iterator.concat. The built-in HTTP client Undici is upgraded to version 8.0, while the default buffer pool size has been increased to 64 KiB.
